Day #3

By 8am everyone was packed up and on the bus to Delphi!  Along the way Eva, our spunky tour guide had some help getting us prepared for what we were about to explore…

I think we were all ready to feel at home in the mountains. We had a short stop in the high class ski town of Arachova, near the Mt. Parnassas Ski Area.

And then on to Delphi, just ten minutes down the road…

… Where we walked through the ancient ruins, seeing the temple of Apollo, the treasury of Athens, many cats, and a theatre overlooking the valley below. Here we were lead by an amazing guide, who told us all about the amazing history of Delphi.

We then visited the Delphi museum, however we were unfortunately unable to take pictures of the artifacts housed there.

After that, we went back to the bus for a short trip to a restaurant for lunch. Here, we ate some delicious food, and finished it off with some baklava.

After this, we made the short bus ride down the mountain to the seaside town of Itea, known as the port of Delphi. Here, we checked into our hotel and got ready to go swimming in the sea. After about half an hour, we made our way through the town of Itea on foot to go swimming in the Gulf of Corinth, which connects to the Ionian sea.

After swimming, the group dispersed for a few hours before dinner time. Our group elected to shower off after swimming before going for a short shopping trip at some nearby shops.

Then we had dinner to wrap up our day at the hotel, and fell asleep soon after, exhausted from the long day of adventures!
