Day #8
We started day 9 in Greece at the Athlos Hotel in Thesolneki. We had breakfast at 8, and had to be out of the hotel by 8:30. There was not much on our agenda except drive from Thesolneki back to Athens. It was a 6 hour car drive.
We made a stop in the small mountain village of Palaios Panteleimonas, 2.5 hours into our trip. This village was absolutely beautiful. It was nestled in the mountains, and looked over the ocean. To get to the village we had to drive up a windy road. Our bus driver is an absolute G, and was crushing all the narrow turns! There were cute little shops with jewelry, souvenirs and other goods all around the town. As well as so many Cafes. We had an 1.5 hours in Palaios Panteleimonas. Our small group stopped at one of the Cafes and had pastry’s and coffee after buying gifts for our parents and friends.
We got back on the bus. The bus is a great place to sleep!!
After being on the bus for another 2.5 hours we stopped at a rest stop for lunch and to use the bathroom. There was a burger restaurant (similar to mcdonald’s) and a cafe. We had 30 minutes to use the bathroom and find some food. After our lunch stop, you won’t believe what we did! We got back on the bus for even more driving!! Lots of driving today! The veggie burger was vegetarian approved, but the fries in this country need more salt.
We had originally planned to drive another 2.5 hours and not stop until we arrived in Athens. Unfortunately we had to take an unexpected stop. One of our travelers lost their passports at the lunch rest stop, and we had to take an emergency stop. We all got off the bus and were instructed to go to the bathroom while the Chaperones figured out what needed to happen.
After about an hour we got back on the bus and we’re on our way to Athens. We were about an hour away from Athens, and all very eager to get off the bus. We checked into our hotel for our last night in Greece, and had dinner around the hotel. There were a few restaurant’s within walking distance of our hotel, and we were set free to eat. The 5 of us walked to an authentic greek place called Asian Noodles. We all got asian food that was GAS! After dinner we got a sweet treat. There was a cute gelato place on the walk back to our hotel. It was fire. We then walked back to our hotel. Our flight on day 10 was SUPER early, so we had bed checks at 9:15, and hit the hay!
A special side note from today: it was Olivia Price’s birthday!!
